News & Events

Missions: Two of our members, Art and Andrea Carter are in Greensboro for a few months before leaving to assist in church planting in an area in the world where there is no known group of Christians meeting together. The Carters and their children, Lydia (2 years) and Elaina (5 months), are being sent by OMF International. If you or your small group would be interested in learning more about this ministry, please contact them: 617-5619 or art_andrea@att.net.

Remembrance Fund: This is a plan in which people may make a contribution to the church in memory of those who have passed away either recently or in the past. You may contribute to any area of choice here at Christ Community. The names are recorded in a leather book that is on display in the library. If you have any questions call Mary Lou Klein at 288-0535.

CCC's Summer Adult Bible Fellowship Class: Five Keys to Spiritual Growth: The apostle Paul makes it clear that we must grow in spiritual maturity over the course of our lives. This summer, our ABF class will enjoy the teaching of John MacArthur, R.C. Sproul, Mark Dever and others as they lead us in understanding and applying the disciplines of prayer, worship, Bible study, service, and stewardship in our lives. Classes begin at 9:15 a.m. Sundays and continue through Sunday, September 6. Click here for more information.

"What Happened between Malachi and Matthew?"--For 400 years an incredible story unfolded as God laid the groundwork for the coming of the Messiah. With a flash of Alexander the Great's sword, the entire world changed. The events that occurred after his untimely death climaxed with the complete domination of a small Italian city. This class will tell the narrative of the Inter-Testamental period. All middle and high school students and their parents (and any other interested parties) are invited to share in the journey. Mark Guthrie will be leading this class at 9:15 a.m. on Sundays in the Attic (upstairs D-wing). Click here to listen to past classes.

Junior Church has started for third- through fifth-graders during the worship service. Junior Church will not meet on the first Sunday of each month, and children are encouraged to worship with their families on those Sundays. If interested in assisting, please call Mark Weaver at 337-9077.

Ladies Bible Study: Ladies who are interested in an in-depth Bible study may want to consider the morning Precept study that should begin in the fall. For the year 2009-2010 the group plans to study the books of Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. You may call Jean Herndon at 573-3588 for more information.

Red Cross Blood Drive on Tuesday, June 30. Sign up at church in the breezeway on Sunday mornings or contact Pam French at 324-1110 or frenchyfri@triad.rr.com. Donors receive a FREE T-shirt from the Red Cross.

Can you carry a tune? Do you like to sing praises to the Lord on Sunday morning or just in the shower? If you answered yes then we need you in the choir. Not only are there no tryouts, you don't have to be a professional and you will not be asked to perform a solo. You simply have to enjoy singing! Practice is held each Wednesday from 7-8 p.m. Please consider being a part of our choir. Call Susan Kunar if you have any questions at 288-2365, ext.18, or just show up this Wednesday evening.

4th and 5th Graders and Parents: We will start a new communicants class geared for this age level in the near future. A communicants' class is to prepare our covenant children for membership. This means they are interviewed by the Session to give their testimony of faith and may then take Holy Communion and are full members of the church. The class will be for 17 weeks. Children will have a workbook and will complete brief assignments, to be reviewed with their parents, before each class session. We will have full details in a few weeks. Please contact Debbie Cain, 288-2365 or dcain@cccarp.org, if you are interested in receiving more information.
